Phone: (+221) 4. ACCOMMODATION Participants are required to manage their own accommodation and the associated costs. The organizers may, however, support participants to book hotels of their choice if they fill the section on Hotel Reservation on the Registration Form and send at least one week before the start of the forum. Participants can stay at the Terrou Bi Hotel or at hotels listed on pages 6, 7 and 8 at the indicated rates. Some of these hotels are within min. walking distance to the Terrou Bi Hotel, or further depending on the participants reservation For the others, the taxi fare in the area is around 2.000 CFA francs FCFA for downtown areas and further. HEBERGEMENT Les participants doivent prendre en charge leurs frais (Voyage, hébergement, etc.). Les organisateurs sont prêts à soutenir les participants pour réserver leurs chambres dans les hôtels de leur choix s ils remplissent la partie indiquée dans le formulaire d inscription au moins une semaine avant le début du Forum. Les participants pourront séjourner au King Fahd Hôtel ou dans les hôtels listés aux pages 6, 7 et 8 selon les tarifs indiqués. Certains de ces hôtels sont à 10 minutes de marche de l hôtel King Fahd Palace ou plus selon la réservation faite par le participant. Pour les autres, vous pourrez vous y rendre en taxi au prix maximum de 2.000 F CFA pour les participants résidant en ville ou dans d'autres zones. Prière de copier vos messages à: dieynabathiam.ka@villededakar.org 5. WELCOME AT THE AIRPORT Some hotels have a shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. You can make arrangements for pick-up and drop-off. For the other hotels you will have to take a taxi. The approximate rates from the airport to the hotels are 3.000 CFA francs during the day and 5.000 CFA francs at night. Transport shall be available for participants from the airport to hotels and from hotels to the venue of the meeting in the mornings and after each day s sessions, as well as from hotels to the airport on departure. 6. LUNCH DURING THE MEETING Participants will be offered lunch on 2 meeting days 25-26 December. Kindly consider this when raising your travel authorizations. 7. VISA In order to enter Senegal a valid Passport is required. Visas must be obtained by all participants not coming from the Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS). Visas are obtained in all Diplomatic Missions of Senegal in the various countries of participants. However, in countries that Senegal does not have a diplomatic mission; participants shall have the privilege to obtain entry visas at the airport in Dakar on arrival. 5. ACCUEIL A L AEROPORT Certains hôtels disposent d une navette. Vous pourrez faire les arrangements directement avec l hôtel pour venir vous chercher et vous ramener. Pour les autres hôtels, vous devrez utiliser un taxi pour un tarif de 3.000 FCFA dans la journée et 5.000 FCFA la nuit. Des dispositions sont prises pour faciliter le transport des participants de l aéroport aux hôtels, des hôtels à la réunion et des hôtels à l aéroport. 6. DEJEUNER DURANT LA REUNION Les déjeuners seront offerts pendant les 2 jours de réunion. Prière d en tenir compte en préparant vos autorisations de voyage. 7. VISA Pour entrer au Sénégal un passeport en cours de validité est nécessaire. Un visa d entrée est exigé pour toute personne issue d un pays non membre de la Communauté Economique des Etats de l Afrique de l Ouest (CEDEAO). Les visas s obtiennent dans les représentations diplomatiques du Sénégal dans le pays de résidence de chaque participant. Le participant dont le pays n abrite pas de représentation diplomatique du Sénégal a la possibilité d obtenir le visa à l aéroport. 7. HEALTH AND VACCINES A vaccine against Yellow Fever is required. Please bring your international certificate of vaccination. This will be required at the airport on arrival by the health unit. Malaria medicine is also recommended. For additional information on health issues regarding your stay in Senegal, participants are kindly requested to refer to health authorities of their respective countries. 7. SANTE ET VACCINS Un vaccin contre la fièvre jaune est requis. Prière de vous munir impérativement de votre carnet international de vaccination. Celui-ci sera exigé par les services sanitaires à l aéroport. Des médicaments contre le paludisme sont aussi recommandés. Pour d autres renseignements sanitaires, les participants sont priés de se renseigner auprès des autorités sanitaires de leur pays respectifs. 3

INFORMATIONS SUR LES VOLS In order to facilitate reception at the airport, participants are kindly requested to forward their flight details at least one week before their arrival in Senegal to the contact details mentioned in this information guide. 8. CONFIRMATION OF DEPARTURE Please note that reconfirmation must be done immediately upon arrival. Reconfirmation obtained outside Dakar has no value. Please refer to the secretary for your reconfirmation. LOCATION AND WEATHER FORECAST Senegal is both a country that looks to the west (the most western point of the African continent) and a country deeply rooted into the continent. Senegal is a tropical country with two main seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. April is the sixth month of the dry season, usually characterized by the dry harmattan weather, a chilly & dry sandstorm with temperatures between 25 C and 30. Please bring along appropriate clothes. 9. LOCALISATION GEOGRAPHIQUE ET CLIMAT Le Sénégal est à la fois un pays qui regarde vers l ouest (le point le plus occidental du continent africain) et un pays qui trouve ses racines dans le continent profond. Le Sénégal est situé dans la zone intertropicale. Il y fait toujours chaud, avec un ensoleillement exceptionnel. Il y a deux saisons: la saison sèche et la saison des pluies. Le mois d'avril correspond au sixième mois de la saison sèche balayé par l harmattan, ce vent de sable frisquet et desséchant qui saupoudre le paysage avec des températures comprises entre 25 C et 30 C. Prière d'amener des vêtements appropriés. 10. SECURITY Dakar is in general safe. However, as in any big city, please avoid going out alone late at night or in isolated areas. FOOD HYGIENE (Prevention of traveler's diarrhea and cholera) It is advisable not to drink tap water: Prefer encapsulated bottled water. Otherwise, drink filtered, boiled and decontaminated water. Avoid ingestion of ice cubes, fresh fruit juices, raw vegetables and unpeeled fruit. Avoid eating undercooked foods (fish, meat, poultry, milk). Ensure regular and thorough washing of hands before meals. 13. ELECTRICITY The main electricity supply is 220 Volts/50Hz. For additional information, please request at the Front Desk in your hotels. LOCAL CURRENCY Senegal uses CFA francs as its currency. There are Exchange Offices at the airport, in Banks and some major hotels in town. It is advisable to have on you Euros and/or Dollars. The approximate exchange rate as of now is about: 1EURO = 655,957 Francs CFA, 1US$ = 500 Francs CFA. 12. HYGIENE ALIMENTAIRE (Prévention de la diarrhée du choléra) Il est conseillé de ne pas boire l'eau du robinet: préférez l'eau en bouteille encapsulée. Sinon, boire de l'eau filtrée, bouillie et décontaminée. Éviter l'ingestion de glaçons, de jus de fruits frais, de légumes crus et de fruits non pelés. Évitez de manger des aliments crus (poisson, viande, volaille, lait). Assurer un lavage complet et régulier des mains avant les repas. 13. ELECTRICITE Le voltage général est de 220 volts/50hz. Pour d autres renseignements, s adresser à la réception des hôtels. MONNAIE LOCALE L unité monétaire du Sénégal est le franc CFA. Les opérations de change peuvent se faire à l aéroport, dans les banques, les bureaux de change en ville et dans les principaux hôtels. Il est conseillé d avoir sur soi, des Euros et des dollars.
