Masculine and Feminine Colours We already know that French nouns are either masculine (le/un) or feminine (la/une). When we use adjectives (like colours) to describe these nouns, we need to make sure that they match or agree. That is to say, masculine objects have masculine colours to describe them and feminine objects have feminine colours to describe them. The table below shows us the masculine and feminine versions of these colours. Colours go last! In French, the colour always comes after the object (noun) it is describing. This is the opposite of English and very important to remember! Plural Colours We know that colours change when the noun is masculine or feminine. We call this agreement. They also usually change when there s more than one of the noun. This is really easy to do: look at the table below and see if you can spot the pattern.
