PIP 01 Internship Junior Engineer Offshore installation of piggy-back and direct electrically heated lines Department Engineering Rigid pipelines Scope In some pipe laying operations, it is required to have above the larger diameter pipe, simultaneously an electrical cable to heat the conveyed fluid or a smaller service pipeline. To ensure that the smaller pipeline/cable is correctly supported, it can be attached to the main pipeline by using a piggy-back block. Such offshore installation operations can be an issue if not well prepared in advance, as it requires a specific organisation of the vessel, with both pipelines (and cable for DEH) constraints taken into account. The internship objective is to confirm the feasibility and establish a guideline for the S-lay and J-lay in piggy-back with two of Subsea 7 fleet vessels. This guideline will deal with: the supply and storage of the two types of line pipes (or the cable in the case of DEH), the organisation of the vessel (firing lines) and the installation aids, the limits in term of diameter, depth, radius in the curves, the contingencies. PIP 01 Stage Ingénieur Junior Installation de pipelines en piggy-back et pipelines chauffées électriquement Département Ingénierie Pipelines rigides Mission Lors de certaines opérations de pose de pipe, il est nécessaire d avoir simultanément au-dessus du pipe ayant le diamètre le plus gros, un pipe plus petit ou un câble électrique chauffant le fluide conduit. Pour s assurer que le pipe le plus petit (ou le câble) est correctement supporté, nous pouvons utiliser des attaches régulières, piggy-back. De telles opérations en mer peuvent être problématiques si elles ne sont pas bien préparées en amont : elles requièrent une organisation spécifique du bateau, avec la prise en compte des contraintes des deux pipelines (et du câble pour le cas du pipe chauffé). L objectif du stage est le développement de la méthode d installation, avec le rapport associé, pour la pose en S et en J avec piggy-back pour deux bateaux spécifiques de la flotte de Subsea 7. Intégré au département Rigid pipelines, le stagiaire devra traiter les points suivants dans la méthode développée : la fourniture et le stockage des deux lignes (ou du câble dans le cas du pipe chauffé), l organisation du bateau pour la construction des deux lignes et les aides à l installation, les limites en termes de diamètre, profondeur d eau, rayon de courbure de la route, les variantes de solutions. PIP 02 Internship Junior Engineer Integration to the rigid pipelines installation team on a project Department Engineering Rigid pipelines Scope The intern will be integrated to the rigid pipelines installation team of a shallow or deep water project. He will be part of the integrated project team. Specific tasks include: preparation of work procedures and method statements, preparation of equipment and material lists, assist project in liaison with the Lead Engineer, assist in all required design reviews to ensure compliance of project engineering work with engineering standards, Group procedures and policies. The intern will interface with all the Installation Engineers team and will be supervised by the rigid pipelines installation Lead Engineer. PIP 02 Stage Ingénieur Junior Intégration au sein d une équipe projet en rigid pipelines Département Ingénierie Pipelines rigides Mission Le stagiaire sera intégré à l équipe chargée de l installation des pipelines rigides dans un projet en eaux peu profondes ou profondes. Il travaillera directement au sein d une équipe d ingénieurs travaillant sur un projet. Il aura pour missions spécifiques de : développer et rédiger les procédures d installation, préparer les listes d équipements et de matériaux, assister l équipe de projet en relation avec l ingénieur responsable de l équipe, prêter son concours dans toutes les études de conception requises afin de garantir la conformité des travaux d ingénierie avec les meilleures pratiques en vigueur, ainsi qu avec les procédures et autres politiques applicables au sein du Groupe. PIP 03 Internship Junior Engineer New stinger design for deepwater pipelay Department Engineering Rigid pipelines Scope In deep water, the S-lay method requires very high tensioning capacity of the pipeline to obtain allowable stresses or strains. Installed at the stern of the vessel, the singer allows to control the deformed shape of the pipeline when it leaves the laying vessel and so permits to operate at greater water depths. The objectives of this internship is to propose a new stinger design for a Subsea 7 s vessel, based on future offshore fields developments and the constraints of the vessel. More particularly, the following points shall be addressed: pipelay of single pipe and pipe-in-pipe in deepwater (~2000m), installation of structures such as ILT (In-line tee) and PLET (Pipeline end terminaison structures), stinger installation at vessel stern, stinger operability during pipelay (main stinger angle and curvature adjustment). Profile M/W This subject is proposed to a student in 3 rd year of school of engineering with mechanical, hydrodynamic or civil engineering background. The internship will be split in different phases: litterature study to understand the stinger design constraints (length, curvature, etc.), training to pipelines installation analyses with Orcaflex (and potentially Abaqus application if required), development of a technical specification for the new stinger: pipelines characteristics to be studied, water depths range, stinger type,... stinger pre-design studies: definition of the length, minimum and maximum curvature, pre-design report. You will be integrated within the Rigid pipelines department. You will have to interface with Methods Engineers as well as Structures Engineers in charge of the structural design of the stinger, its attach system to the vessel and installation feasibility. The final report will be used internally as a basis for the future CAPEX. PIP 03 Stage Ingénieur Junior Définition d un nouveau stinger pour la pose de pipelines en grande profondeur Département Ingénierie Pipelines rigides Mission En grande profondeur, la pose en S requiert de très grandes capacités de tensionnement des pipelines pour obtenir des contraintes et des déformations acceptables du pipeline. Installé à la poupe, le stinger permet de contrôler les déformations du pipe lorsqu il quitte le navire de pose, et lui permet ainsi d opérer à de plus grandes profondeurs. L objectif de ce stage est de proposer un nouveau stinger pour un des navires de pose de Subsea 7 en prenant en compte les futurs développements de champs pétroliers offshore et les contraintes liées au navire. En particulier, les points suivants devront être considérés : pose de conduite simple et de pipe-in-pipe en grande profondeur (~2000 m), installation de structures de type ILT (In-line tee) ou PLET (structure de terminaison des pipelines), installation du stinger sur le navire, opérabilité du stinger lors de la pose de pipeline (changement d angle principal et de courbure). Le stage se décomposera en plusieurs étapes : étude bibliographique pour comprendre les contraintes liées au design de stinger (longueur, courbure, etc.), formation aux études de pose de pipelines sur le logiciel Orcaflex, établissement d un cahier des charges du nouveau stinger : caractéristiques des pipelines à étudier, profondeurs d eau considérées, type de stinger,... étude de pré-dimensionnement du stinger : définition de la longueur, courbure minimum et maximum, etc., le tout en lien avec les contraintes opérationnelles, rédaction du rapport de pré-dimensionnement. Intégré au sein du département Rigid pipelines, vous travaillerez avec des ingénieurs Méthodes et des ingénieurs du département Structures en charge du dimensionnement structurel du stinger, de son système d attache sur le navire, ainsi que des études d installabilité du stinger. Le livrable final sera ensuite utilisé en interne comme base de réflexion pour le futur investissement par le département concerné. PIP 04 Internship Junior Engineer Installation method: Steep S Department Engineering Rigid pipelines Scope The S-lay is the conventional pipelines installation process in shallow to medium/deep water depths. The pipeline is bent over the laybarge deck to reach the catenary down to the seabed. However, in very deep water, pipelines are reaching plastic deformations when being bent on the laybarge, what is not covered within design codes. In order to demonstrate that pipeline integrity is not jeopardised, impact of such plastic strains and their residual effects need to be evaluated during the pipeline installation phase but also during the pipeline operational phase. The objective of this internship is to present a validated static pipelay methodology in Steep S applicable on project. The internship will be split in different phases: litterature study on Steep S, familiarisation with existing developed methodologies and softwares used (Orcaflex and Abaqus), summarise the Steep S theory, focusing on the material hysteresis behavior, litterature study on steel hysteresis law (cinematic or isotropic) to validate the model considered, validate the Orcaflex static model with Abaqus, with associated validation report, validate the current Steep S methodology to gain calculation time with Orcaflex by studying the various laying criteria (roll, moments, curvature, loads), update the existing engineering tools with the conclusion of the above studies, perform initiation and laydown analyses in Steep S with validated methodology, issue an engineering standard summarising the applicable methodology on project, with its potential limitations. Based on the actual status during the internship period, some dynamic and fatigue aspects could be studied too. PIP 04 Stage Ingénieur Junior Méthode de pose de pipe : Steep S Département Ingénierie Pipelines rigides Mission Le S-lay est la méthode conventionnelle d installation des pipelines en eaux peu ou moyennement profondes. Le pipeline est courbé en sortie de barge sur un stinger pour contrôler les efforts et donner la bonne forme de la caténaire jusqu au fond marin. Toutefois, en eaux très profondes (plus de 1000m), les pipelines sont soumis à des déformations plastiques dûes à la forte courbure imposée sur la barge. Afin de démontrer que l intégrité structurelle du pipeline n est pas compromise, les effets de ces déformations plastiques doivent être évalués lors de la phase d installation, mais aussi durant la phase d opération. L objectif de ce stage est de présenter une méthodologie validée de la pose de pipeline en Steep S en statique applicable sur projet. Le stage se décomposera en plusieurs étapes : étude bibliographique sur le Steep S, familiarisation avec les méthodes développées et les logiciels utilisés (Orcaflex et Abaqus), synthèse de la description et interprétation de la cinématique du Steep S, incluant les phénomènes d hystérésis, étude bibliographique des lois de comportement des matériaux pour s assurer de la pertinence du modèle sélectionné, validation des modèles de pose statique d Orcaflex avec Abaqus, en détaillant et expliquant chaque différence potentielle, validation de la méthodologie actuelle de réduction du temps de calcul sur Orcaflex en étudiant les différents critères de pose (roulis, moments, courbure, réactions), mise à jour des outils précédemment développés en fonction des conclusions des points précédents, étude des phases d initiation et de dépose des pipelines avec la méthodologie validée, rédaction d un rapport synthétisant la méthodologie à appliquer pour ce type d analyse et ses limites potentielles. En fonction de votre avancement, les aspects liés à la dynamique et à la fatigue pourront être abordés également. P&O 01 Internship Junior Engineer Risk analysis Department Project and operations - Risk management Scope Risk management consists of an iterative process of support tasks such as identify, analyse, evaluate, treat, monitor and review risks during the project life. Your role will be to provide support to Project Risk Analysts within the project teams. The intern will have the following missions: perform qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, establish and maintain the project risk registers, monitor project risk mitigation actions, carry out planning risk analysis, update the risk management data base, throughout the project, monitor and report project risks related activities. To achieve these objectives, the intern will use softwares like Primavera 6 risk analysis, PROM 7 and Oracle Crystal Ball. This internship constitutes an opportunity to give a global overview of project commitments and stakes. Profile M/W Student in 3 rd year of school of engineering with interest for risk management or preparing a master 2 in risk management with a project approach. P&O 01 Stage Ingénieur Junior Analyse de risques Département Projet et opérations - Analyse de risques Mission Le service Project risk management a pour principales missions d identifier, analyser, évaluer, traiter et suivre les risques inhérents à la réalisation de projets. Le stagiaire sera intégré à l équipe de Risk Analysts, répartie sur les différents projets en cours. L objectif de ce stage est de leur fournir un soutien. Les missions du stage consistent à : contribuer à la mise à jour des registres de risques, procéder à des analyses qualitatives et quantitatives, suivre les actions de réduction des risques, réaliser des analyses de planning, alimenter la base de données, participer à la rédaction de rapports. Pour se faire, le stagiaire devra utiliser les logiciels Access, Primavera 6 risk analysis, PROM 7 et Oracle Crystal Ball. Ce stage constitue une bonne opportunité pour un élève de troisième année d avoir une vue globale de l organisation d un projet et d en comprendre les contraintes et les enjeux. The two main missions of this department are to provide projects with qualified resources and integrated services such as ship operation management, planning coordination, survey and logistics. Operations cover a wide range from heavy lift installation, rigid pipe laying using S-lay and J-lay methodologies, flexible lines and umbilical installation, both for shallow and deep water fields. PRE 01 Internship Junior Engineer Ballast of buoyancy tank - methods and tools Department Engineering Technical expertise - Pre-commissioning Scope Large buoyancy tanks are used in deep sea applications. As an example, buoyancy tanks are used on SHR (Single Hybrid Riser) and HRT (Hybrid Riser Towser) concepts to keep the tower or riser upright. During installation, the tanks are initially filled with water. Once the tanks are lowered susbea and connected to the riser or tower, the tanks are de-ballasted with Nitrogen providing the designed uplift. Despite the fact that the tanks are massive steel structure (6m diameter and 30 m long), their design is optimised and only allow small over pressurisation. As such, the deballasting equipment and procedure shall allow a precise control of the de-ballasting parameters. To do so, Subsea 7 use a a control manifold including pressure reading and equipped with safety relieve valves (to prevent overpressurisation) located on vessel deck. The selection of the downline, the selection of the control manifold (pressure relieve valves) and the definition of the operational pressures to be implemented in the deballasting procedure will depend on numerous factors: tank geometry, target time to deballast, water depth of the tanks to deballast, tank structural capacity, tank ballasting piping design, required pressurisation of the tank following deballasting, accuracy of each control components (pressure gauge, pressure relieve valves), The subject of this multidiscipline internship consits in consolidating in a single manual and associated calculation tool all aspects to ease and fasten the selection of the downline, the selection of the Pressure Relieve Valve and the definition of the operational pressures. Based on above study, the internship will be extended to the study of potential improvement of our methodology (save time / improve control performance). PRE 01 Stage Ingénieur Junior Déballastage des caissons de flottabilité méthode et outils Département Ingénierie Expertise technique - Pre-commissioning Mission De larges caissons de flottabilité sont utilisés dans les applications en eaux profondes. On en trouve par exemple dans les SHR (risers hybrides uniques) et les HRT (tours risers hybrides) afin de maintenir la tour ou le riser droit. Lors de l installation, les caisses sont d abord remplies d eau. Une fois raccordées au riser ou à la tour, les caisses sont vidées à l aide d azote de manière à atteindre la poussée requise. Malgré la structure massive en acier de ces caisses, leur conception est optimisée et ne permet qu une légère surpression. En tant que tel, l équipement et la procédure de déballastage doivent permettre un contrôle précis des paramètres de déballastage. Pour ce faire, une clarinette de contrôle équipée d un mécanisme de lecture de la pression et de soupapes de sécurité (pour prévenir tout risque de surpression) est utilisée et positionnée sur le pont du navire. La sélection du flexible et des éléments de contrôle (soupape de securité) et la définition des pressions opérationnelles qui seront implémentées dans les procédures dépendent de nombreux facteurs : géométrie du caisson, temps de déballastage souhaité, profondeur des caissons, structure du caisson (et sa capacité à supporter des surpressions et dépressions), conception de la tuyauterie de déballastage associée au caisson (et les pertes de charge associées), pression souhaitée dans le caisson après déballastage, précision de chaque élément de contrôle (manomètre),... Le stage multidisciplinaire consiste à consolider dans un seul manuel (et ses outils de calcul associés) tous les aspects pour simplifier et rendre plus rapide la sélection du flexible, la sélection des éléments de contrôle et la définition des pressions opérationnelles. Sur la base de l étude ci-dessus, le stage sera étendu à l étude d axes d améliorations de notre méthode (gain de temps opérationnel et amélioration des systèmes de contrôle). PRE 02 Internship Junior Engineer Subsea umbilicals: steel tubes design Department Engineering Technical expertise - Pre-commissioning Scope Subsea umbilicals are key elements of subsea control systems allowing command and monitoring of captors and operators installed on the seabed. These umbilicals includes steel tubes for the apply of hydraulic power and also chemical injection products required to operate christmas tree at above 2000m water depth. Design of these tubes (materials, wall thickness, manufacture process ) is significative within umbilicals design (fatigue resistance, mechanical properties) in offshore installation engineering. Different technologies of steel tubes are now available. Subsea 7 is installing offshore umbilicals and sometimes is in charge of umbilicals detailed design and fabrication follow-up as part of turn key contracts. Subsea 7 is willing to develop its expertise in umbilical steel tubes design in order to manage the impact on umbilical itself design, installation constraints and umbilical costs. The intern will have to: collect technical data of different tube technologies (seamless superduplex, welded superduplex, 19D grade tubes), identify design qualification transport and installation constraints in relation with these steel tubes, benchmark mechanical properties, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, weldability, etc., of these technologies, develop a calculation tool for wall thickness, taking into account all parameters of fabrication, installation and dynamic subsea application, review of wall thickness calculation notes issued by umbilical manufacturers within previous projects, define rules of comparison between the different steel tubes technologies (wall thickness, umbilical weight-diameter, cost), analyse and compare end users (Total, Chevron, Exxon, BP) technical specifications, write guidelines for umbilical steel tubes selection and review of manufacturer design report and calculation notes. Profile M/W The successful candidate will be an undergraduate student from a 3 rd year of engineering school or a master student with a background in mechanics and material.
