5 JOUER À OU FAIRE DE? There are lots of very complicated explanations as to when to use jouer and when to use faire. The simplest (I think) is to remember this: You can use faire for any sport faire du foot, faire de l équitation, faire de la natation but You only use jouer for sports you would use the verb play for in English. jouer au foot In practice, all the sports you can use jouer for are masculine, so you would say jouer au, whereas, with faire, you have to change the little words in between, depending on whether they are: masculine faire du faire du ski feminine faire de la faire de la natation start with a vowel faire de l faire de l équitation plural faire des faire des échecs TASK 4 Ppt: jouerafairedu - 5 -
