Skander holds a Ph.D. in Economics and a Master s degree in Engineering. His area of expertise includes sustainable development, natural resources management, and environment protection. He is interested in project management under uncertainty, financial evaluation of projects, and 1

2 cost-benefit analysis. In addition, Skander has completed several consulting studies related to the energy and natural resources management for governmental institutions and private firms. She worked with the team lead by Professeur Hans Georg Gemünden. RESEARCH GRANTS SSHRC Grant The team composed of : Principal investigator Mario Bourgault (École Polytechnique and associate membre of the Chair) Co-researchers : Nathalie Drouin (ESG UQAM), Gonzalo Lizarralde (School of Architecture, UofM) Collaborators :Christian Defelix (I.A.E de Grenoble), Thierry Picq (EM Lyon), Jaouad Daoudi (UQO) received an important research grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. The grant was obtained from a new programme aimed at developing research partnerships; $179,000 grant for Title: PARTICIP " Partenariat pour l'analyse et la Recherche sur le thème de l'innovation et de la collaboration en contexte de projets " The team presented their project at the PMI-Montreal Symposium Novembre 9 th,

The qualitative phase of this important research project based on case studies has been completed. The results of four case studies in their organisations were presented to the partners and discussed with the researchers. The presentation highlighted the role organisational project management plays as a critical management function in organisations. In practical terms, the research results provide an overview of the components that contribute to organisational performance. 3

4 The participants in the workshop provided feedback on two questionnaires generated from the results of the qualitative phase that will be used to benchmark the participants organisations during the quantitative phase that is now underway. The workshop was an occasion to an exchange of ideas and detailed discussions on the evolution of project management and its use in support of corporate strategy and performance. Hélène Sicotte, lead investigator, Monique Aubry and Claude Besner were the moderators of the workshop. ORGANISATION OF A MAJOR RESEACH CONFERENCE International Research Conference on Organising by Project (IRNOP) The most important research conference in the field of project management in 2011 was organised by the Chair from June 19 th to 23 rd. The organizing committee was composed of Monique Aubry, Claude Besner, Brian Hobbs, Yvan Petit and two master s students, Valérie Defoy and Alexandra Rivard-Fradette. All professors members of the Chair particapated in the paper review process and as chairpersons for the sessions during the conference.
