Ph.D. FRSC Bienvenue a McGill Welcome To McGill Heather Munroe-Blum est principale et vice-chancelière de l'université McGill et professeure de médecine. Un épidémiologiste distingué psychiatrique, elle a consacré sa carrière à l'avancement de l'enseignement supérieur, la science et l'innovation, au Canada et à l'étranger, de conseiller les gouvernements et d'autres organisations sur le rôle que les universités possède dans la recherche de la promotion de la compétitivité internationale et enrichissez les sociétés. A distinguished psychiatric epidemiologist, she has dedicated her career to the advancement of higher education,

2 science and innovation, in Canada and internationally, advising governments and other organizations on the role that universities and research play in advancing international competitiveness and enriching societies. Prof. Munroe-Blum serves on numerous not-for-profit and private boards. She serves on the Board, the Internationalization Committee, and the Membership Committee of the Association of American Universities, and chairs the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada s Standing Advisory Committee on University Research (SACUR). She is a member of the Science, Technology and Innovation Council (STIC) of Canada, the U.S. National Research Council s Committee on Research Universities, the Canada Foundation for Innovation, the Trilateral Commission, and is co-chair of the Private Sector Advisory Committee of the Ontario-Quebec Trade and Co-operation Agreement. She serves on the boards of the Trudeau Foundation, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), Conférence de Montréal, and the Royal Bank of Canada. Named an Officer of the Order of Canada for her outstanding record of achievements in science, innovation and higher education policy, Prof. Munroe-Blum also holds numerous honorary degrees from Canadian and international universities. She is a Specially Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a Senior Fellow of Massey College. She was named a Grande Montréalaise, Montréal s highest honour, and received the National Order of Quebec. Prof. Munroe-Blum holds a Ph.D. with distinction in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in addition to M.S.W. (Wilfrid Laurier University) and B.A. and B.S.W. degrees (McMaster University). Gordon Burr is a Senior Archivist, Collections Management and Digital Services in the McGill Archives. He is a McGill graduate in History and Information Studies. He also teaches courses on archival subjects in McGill's School of Information Studies.

3 Provost Anthony C. Masi de l Université McGill Overture Opening Professeur Anthony C. Masi a été nommé Provost de l'université McGill effectif le 1ere Décembre, 2005 et il est actuellement à son deuxième mandat comme Provost. Il était auparavant vice-provost et directeur de l'information de , vice-principal (Systèmes d'information & Technology) à partir de , et doyen associé avec plusieurs portefeuilles dans la Faculté des arts avant Professeur Masi a terminé un doctorat en sociologie-démographie à l'université Brown et est devenu professeur au Département de sociologie à l'université McGill en 1979 où il a enseigné l'analyse statistique et des applications informatiques au niveau des études supérieures et de premier cycle. Ses programmes de cours innovants et l'utilisation précoce d'outils réseau et Internet ont été inclus dans plusieurs éditions de manuels de ressources de l Association sociologique Américain. Au cours de sa carrière universitaire, il a également été le boursier Jemolo en études européennes au College Nuffield (Oxford), un boursier à l'institut italien national de la statistique à Rome, et professeur invité aux universités de Bari et Pise en Italie. Professeur Masi a publié de nombreux ouvrages sur l'industrialisation et les questions de main-d'œuvre et a présenté des communications au Mexique, la Russie, l'allemagne, la Pologne, l'italie, le Royaume-Uni, les Pays-Bas, Belgique, Canada, États-Unis et en Australie. En plus de la tenue régulière de subventions de recherche accordées compétitifs, professeur Masi est signataire de l'université McGill sur une grande Fondation canadienne pour l'innovation projet d'infrastructure qui a conduit à la création de données basées sur le campus des centres de recherche pour accéder à l'information enquête de Statistique Canada. Il est actuellement membre du Conseil national de la statistique, un comité consultatif pour statisticien en chef du Canada. Professor Anthony C. Masi was appointed Provost of McGill University effective December 1st, 2005 and is presently in his second term as Provost. He was formerly Deputy Provost and Chief Information Officer from , Vice-Principal (Information Systems & Technology) from , and Associate Dean with multiple portfolios in the Faculty of Arts prior to Professor Masi completed a PhD in sociology-demography at Brown University and became a professor in the Department of Sociology at McGill University in 1979 where he has taught statistical analysis and computer

4 applications at the graduate and undergraduate levels. His innovative course syllabi and early use of web and internet tools were included in several editions of the American Sociological Association s resource manuals. Over the course of his academic career he has also been the Jemolo Fellow in European Studies at Nuffield College (Oxford), a research fellow at the Italian National Statistics Institute in Rome, and a visiting professor at the Universities of Bari and Pisa in Italy. Professor Masi has published widely on industrialisation and labour force issues and has presented papers in Mexico, Russia, Germany, Poland, Italy, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, the United States, and Australia. In addition to regularly holding competitively awarded research grants, Professor Masi was McGill s signatory on a major Canada Foundation for Innovation infrastructure project that led to the establishment of campus-based research data centres for accessing Statistics Canada survey information. He is currently a member of the National Statistics Council, an advisory board to Canada s Chief Statistician. Professor Masi s administrative work at McGill began with the development of the Social Science Statistics Laboratory and its subsequent transformation into a Faculty-wide information technology support service of which he was the first Director. Il possède une vaste expérience des dossiers à connotation médicale et concentre sa pratique en matière d assurance collective, assurance-invalidité, régimes de retraite et accommodement. Il plaide fréquemment devant les tribunaux civils et d arbitrage. Me Gilbert agit également à titre de conférencier et collabore au certificat en médecine d assurance et d expertise de l Université de Montréal. Il est l auteur de l ouvrage «L ASSURANCE COLLECTIVE EN MILIEU DE TRAVAIL», dont la seconde édition est parue en 2006, aux éditions Yvon Blais. Michel Gilbert studied law at Laval University and completed a Master s degree in international relations. Michel is a senior partner with the firm Melançon Marceau Grenier and Sciortino. He has a special expertise in medical files and specializes in collective insurance, disability insurance, pension plans and duty of accommodation. He has appeared frequently before civil tribunals and arbitrations. Me Gilbert is a regular panelist at conferences and teaches a course at University of Montreal pertaining to group insurance and medical expertise. He is the author of a book called L ASSURANCE COLLECTIVE EN MILIEU DE TRAVAIL, second edition in 2006, with Yvon Blais Editions.

6 Professeure Joane Routhier, Faculté de l Agriculture et des sciences de l environment de l Université McGill Professor Joane Routhier, School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition, McGill University Ajoutez de la vie aux années : tips to supercharge your diet En tant que spécialiste de diététique, Joane Routhier vit par la règle de garder un bon équilibre, autant dans son vie professionnelle comme dans sa vie personnelle. Femme de carrière et mère de trois jeunes adultes, elle vit un mode de vie de centaines de miles a l heure et doit préparer des repas sains pour sa famille en un temps record. Joane est un diplômé de l Université McGill et a travaillé pour l'école de diététique et de nutrition humaine de McGill depuis plus de 25 ans dans le mentorat des diététistes-à-être. Elle avait pendant de nombreuses années une pratique très réussie privé, a été un collaborateur dans la rédaction d'articles de nutrition de nombreuses connexes dans les journaux, fait des apparitions régulières sur une émission matinale de télévision française et a été le spécialiste de la nutrition pour la santé du coeur Becel pour deux mandats. Joane a également été très impliqué dans l'ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec comme un membre du conseil et a occupé le poste de vice-président pendant deux ans. As a dietitian, Joane Routhier lives by the rule of keeping good balance, as much in her professional as in her personal life. Career woman and mother of three young adults, she lives the hundred miles an hour lifestyle and has to prepare healthy meals for her family in record time. Joane is a McGill grad and has been working for the School of Dietetics and Human nutrition of McGill for over 25 years in mentoring dietitians-to-be. She had for many years a very successful private practice, was a collaborator in writing many nutrition related articles in magazines, made regular appearances on a French TV morning show and was the nutrition expert for Becel healthy heart for two mandates. Joane was also very involved in the Ordre Professionnel des diététistes du Québec as a board member and held the Vice-President position for two years.

De plus, Lynne affectionne jouer au golf et partage avec son conjoint et ses trois enfants, la passion du ski. Mrs. Gervais is Associate Vice-Principal Human Resources, McGill University. She has over 35 years experience with various multinational organizations. At the international level, she has served as a member of a mergers and acquisitions due diligence team and moderated round tables as part of the European Works Council (EWC) process. Her areas of expertise are total compensation, benefits, human resources information systems, succession planning, international mobility and organizational effectiveness. She also has demonstrated skills in change management, team building and project management. Mrs. Gervais is known for promoting leadership through mentoring. Mrs. Gervais is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP); she has a BA (Honours Economics, cum laude) from Concordia University, a Graduate Management Diploma from McGill University, and has completed a Directors Education Program offered at McGill. She also enjoys playing golf and shares her passion for skiing with her husband and three children.

9 Robert MacKalski est un spécialiste du commercialisation et de image de marque. Robert MacKalski is a marketing and branding specialist. He lectures at McGill University, in Montreal, Canada, and focuses much of his professional work on working with high-growth companies on their marketing and branding strategies. Following his MBA in 1995, Robert co-founded the e-commerce company, Peachtree Network, and led the company's efforts in sales and marketing. After the company became public, Robert decided to split his time between academic research at McGill and support of entrepreneurial companies through advisory and consulting work. At McGill, Robert is focusing his PhD research on the impact of bad news and how to best manage branding and marketing in adverse times and during crises. In his professional life, Robert has served on numerous advisory boards of entrepreneurial firms, and has worked as a consultant for several high-growth companies in Canada, the US, and Brazil. Most of his work involves building up marketing & branding support for companies that are changing rapidly (usually through high growth or entering new geographies). Elle est titulaire d'une maîtrise ès sciences en administration des soins de santé de la Faculté de Médecine (Université de Montréal) et d'un doctorat dans la gestion - avec une spécialisation en systèmes d'information - de HEC Montréal. Elle a été activement impliqué dans des initiatives de remaniement des soins de santé ainsi que dans les projets de planification et de mise en œuvre des TI en Amérique du Nord et en Europe. Ses travaux de recherche dans les systèmes d'information et de gestion des soins de santé a été présenté à de nombreuses conférences à travers le monde et publié dans le haut niveau des revues scientifiques en matière de gestion et de

Dr. Liette Lapointe is currently Associate Professor, Information Systems Department Head and Director of the Business and Management Research Center at the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University. She holds a M.Sc. in Healthcare Administration from the Faculty of Medicine (Université de Montréal) and a Ph.D. in Management with a specialization in Information Systems from HEC Montréal. She has been actively involved in healthcare redesign initiatives as well as in IT planning and implementation projects in North America and Europe. Her research work in information systems and healthcare management has been presented at numerous conferences worldwide and published in top-tier scientific journals in management and medicine. Professeure Katherine Gray-Donald, Faculté de l Agriculture et des sciences de l environment de l Université McGill Professor Katherine Gray-Donald, School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition, McGill University Savourez la bonne bouffe Dr. Gray-Donald est professeure agrégée à l'école de diététique et de nutrition humaine et membre associé au Département d'épidémiologie et de biostatistique à l'université McGill. A l'origine, elle a travaillé à titre de diététiste en santé communautaire, a obtenu son doctorat à l'université McGill dans le domaine de l'épidémiologie et a rejoint l'université McGill comme un membre du corps professoral en Elle a occupé de nombreuses responsabilités de gestion, y compris directeur de l'école de diététique et de nutrition humaine, , et a été impliqué dans plusieurs comités nationaux tels que le Groupe de travail de sodium. Originally she worked as a dietitian in community health, obtained her PhD at McGill in the field of epidemiology and joined McGill as a faculty member in She has held numerous management responsibilities including Director of the School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition, , and has been involved in several national committees such as the Sodium Task Force. Her research focuses on the nutritional health of different high risk populations in Canada and abroad and the evaluation of interventions to improve health through nutrition in community settings. She is the current president of the Canadian Nutrition Society.

She conducts research on workforce diversity and equality, and the ways in which human resource practices influence employees identification in large organizations and firms. Prior to joining McGill, Prof Gagnon taught in the UK and was an associate at KPMG Management Consulting. Professeure. Chantal Westgate is a professor of organizational behaviour at the Desautels Faculty of Management where she teaches courses in the industrial relations areas and in cross cultural management. Chantal is also a leader for the McGill Executive Institute. At the institute she has developed an expertise in the area of soft skills training for professionals and executives and has taught her courses both in Canada, the U.K. and Europe. Chantal has been a consultant to leading global firms and has coached top senior executives at major corporations around the world.
