3 Activities summer Ski lifts Ski lifts for pedestrians The ski lifts in Châtel open in summer provide an effortless way to reach the peaks and starting points of walks From the village centre, the SuperChâtel gondola lift takes you up to an altitude of 1,650 m. From there you can continue on the Morclan chairlift up to 1,970 m and a breathtaking panorama A viewing table there tells you the names of all of the peaks. The Morclan is also a paragliding takeoff area From PrélaJoux, 6 km from the village, the PierreLongue chairlift takes you directly to the village of PlaineDranse in the mountain pastures. From there you can continue your walk by taking the Rochassons chairlift, and you can even get to Avoriaz by using two other chairlifts With the Portes du Soleil Multi Pass, pedestrians can use all of the ski lifts operating in the summer in the Portes du Soleil. It is also possible to use the four lifts in Châtel (Super Châtel gondola lift or Morclan, Pierre Longue and Rochassons chairlift) when you buy just one return ticket. 4 Outdoor activities Walks discovery activities Morclan themed trail: a walk discovering the local fauna, flora and habitat, accessible using the SuperChâtel ski lifts (included in the Multi Pass). Water trail: running between the Lac de Vonnes in Châtel and the Lac de Morgins in Switzerland, this walk features ten information boards in the shape of a water drop. The topics covered include water, water tables and water in the mountains. On the smugglers trail: this familyfriendly walk straddling the border tells the story of smugglers in days of old and the customs officers who tried to stop them. With one rule for all and different routes for each level, this bike skills course is both fun and instructive, plus it s absolutely free and open to everyone. The Mountain Bike Park in PrélaJoux The Châtel Bike Park is a special area dedicated to mountain biking fanatics in the PrélaJoux sector, which is reached via the PierreLongue and/or Rochassons chairlifts. It features around 20 downhill mountain biking trails at all difficulty levels, plus several fun areas for new school riding disciplines. These include 6 North Shore zones, the Mountain Style Face (freeride/freestyle area), a Kids Shore and a Drop Zone (pump track, big air bag, etc.). Via Ferrata Saix de Miolène (La Chapelle d Abondance) The route negotiates a very steep and exposed rock face. It takes an attractive rocky route made up of a succession of ledges, corners and overhangs. Produce tasting on the farm Along the 600 m trail there are stopping points with wooden information boards. The trail is suitable for children aged years and over. It's a great way of spending some fun time with the family. The trail is free. Every week you can meet local farmers where they live or work, at their chalet or out in the meadows. They will be delighted to welcome you to taste their home made produce, and will tell you stories about their daily lives too!
