3 Special Programs - Programmes spéciaux Science and Nature Rocks! (For 6 to 12 year olds) Treevia Saturday, January 16-11:00 am to 12:30 pm Trees are amazing! They may stand in one place, but they do a lot of hard work for the planet! Trees not only provide home for animals, they provide the earth with cleaner air and water and it doesn t stop there. Learn all about how trees are terrific in the workshop based in part on the popular book "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein. (Maximum of 15 participants) Registration begins January 3, Tweet Me Saturday, February 13-11:00 am to 12:30 pm What do we know about local and migratory birds that we see in this part of the world at different times of the year? Can you identify them by sight or by their songs? What kind of habitat do they like? Build up your knowledge on the birds in your own backyard! (Maximum of 15 participants) Registration begins January 16, Walking with Ano:wara - Walking in the Way of the Turtle Saturday, March 12-11:00 am to 12:30 pm This workshop teaches about local animals and habitat through the understanding provided to us from the Mohawk people of Akwesasne through the Traditional knowledge of the Haudenosaunee. Walk with Ano-wara (the Snapping Turtle) and learn what he can teach us about the world around us. (Maximum of 15 participants) Registration begins February 13, This workshop series is made possible through a partnership with St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences. Storytime (For 3 to 5 year olds) Thursdays, January 7 to February 25 10:00 am to 10:45 am Stories, fingerplays, songs, and crafts. (Maximum of 10 participants) Registration required. Drop in Family Storytime Saturdays, January 9 to February 27 (for children and their parents) 10:00 am to 10:45 am Preschoolers - Pré-scolaires For the Whole Family - Pour toute la famille Spend time with your family at the public library. This is a bilingual programme, where an English and a French story will be read. No registration required. Spend uninterrupted quality time with your spouse in Cupid s Lounge, and savour a warm beverage with a rich and succulent dessert, and of course, each other s company. Single? No problem! Bring a friend and make it a friends night out! Craft kits available to take home. This Storywalk is a book made out of signs put up in sequence in the library which families will be able to read together. Drop in. The rules are simple! The more books your students read, the more chances your school has to win. The winning school will be announced on International Children Book Day, April 2, 2016 and will win a cash prize for their school library!
