7 ANDRÉ LACHANCE FIELD MANAGER/GÉRANT Born/Né: 09/09/1970 Birthplace/Lieu de naissance: Québec City, Québec Age/âge: 41 The only Field Manager the Women s National Team has ever known, André Lachance, will be attending his fifth World Cup in Edmonton. His first tenure as Field Manager for Canada was at the 2004 World Cup in Edmonton, where he led the team to a bronze medal behind United States and Japan. He repeated in 2006 with a similar result, before leading Canada to a silver medal finish in Lachance will look to guide Canada back to the podium in 2012 after a disappointing fifth place finish at the 2010 World Cup in Venezuela. Lachance is full-time staff member with Baseball Canada as well as a part-time professor at the School of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa and was honored in 2008 with a Professor of the Year Award. A former scout with the New-York Yankees, he also served the IBAF as a technical commissioner at the 2007 Asian Cup (Taiwan), Pan-American Games (Brazil), 2006 America s Olympic qualifier (Cuba), 2005 World Cup (Netherlands) and has been a coach at the 2005 World Children Baseball Fair in Japan. Graduated from the National Coaching Institute in Montréal, he was also trained at the Manuel Fajardo Institute of Physical Education in Havana, Cuba. André Lachance est la seule personne à avoir dirigé l équipe depuis sa création et sera aux guides de l équipe nationale pour une 9e saison à cette édition de la coupe du monde. Sa première participation comme gérant remonte à 2004 lors de la coupe du monde où il a guidé l équipe à la médaille de bronze derrière les États-Unis et le Japon. Il a répété l exploit en 2006 avant de mener l équipe à la médaille d argent en Lachance tentera de guider le Canada vers un retour sur le podium suite à une décevante 5 e place lors de la coupe de monde de 2010 au Vénézuela. Lachance est employé à temps complet avec Baseball Canada de même qu un professeur à temps partiel à l école des sciences de l activité physique de l Université d Ottawa et a reçu le titre de Professeur de l année Ex dépisteur pour l organisation des Yankees de New-York, il agit également comme commissaire technique pour la IBAF et a travaillé lors de la Coupe de l Asie 2007 (Taiwan), les Jeux Pan-américains 2007 (Brésil), la qualification olympique des Amériques en 2006 (Cuba) de même que la Coupe du Monde 2005 (Hollande) et a été entraîneur lors de la World Children Baseball Fair au Japon en Gradué de l Institut National de Formation des Entraîneurs de Montréal, il a également été formé à l Institut d activité physique Manuel Fajardo à La Havane, Cuba. 7

8 JEAN-FRANCOIS LACROIX - PITCHING COACH/ENTRAÎNEUR DES LANCEURS Born/Né: 25/03/1972 Birthplace/Lieu de naissance: Montréal, Québec Age/âge: 40 Jean-François Lacroix returns to the post he has held since the 2004 World Cup. He is serving as the National Team s Pitching Coach for the ninth consecutive season with the first coming in 2004 for the World Cup in Edmonton. The former right-handed pitcher played his junior baseball in Montréal and also played in France. Jean-François successfully battled leukemia in the early 90 s that put an end to his playing career. The native of Montréal, Québec is a full time high school physical education teacher. Jean-François revient à son poste qu il a occupé depuis la coupe du monde de Il agira comme entraîneur des lanceurs pour la 9 e fois. L ex-lanceur droitier a joué son baseball junior à Montréal et a également évolué en France. Jean-François a vaincu le cancer avec succès au début des années 90 ce qui a mis fin à sa carrière de joueur. 9 SEAN O BRIEN COACH/ENTRAÎNEUR Born/Né: 24/10/1972 Birthplace/Lieu de naissance: Barrie, Ontario Age/âge: 39 Sean O Brien began his coaching career at the Mickey Owen Baseball School in Miller, Missouri for kids aged 8-19 while attending Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas where he graduated with a degree in Math. In 2005 O Brien began coaching with the Ontario Provincial Women s Team which he still continues to do and began as a coach with the Women s National Team in O Brien is also a player/coach with the Newmarket Hawks senior club, a Certified Instructor with the NCCP baseball coaching program and was an Instructor with the Toronto Blue Jays Instructional Camps from O Brien works as an accountant and enjoys detective fiction books and TV shows. Sean O Brien a débuté sa carrière d entraîneur à l école de Mickey Owen à Miller au Missouri pour les jeunes de 8 à 19 ans tout en fréquentant le Collège Tabor à Hillsboro, Kansas où il a gradué en mathématiques. En 2005, Sean a débuté son implication avec le baseball féminin en devenant entraîneur avec l équipe de l Ontario où il exerce toujours ces mêmes fonctions. 10 PATRICIA LANDRY COACH/ENTRAÎNEUR Born/Né: 15/09/1979 Birthplace/Lieu de naissance: St-Étienne, Québec Age/âge: 32 Patricia played with the Women s National Team for five seasons ( ) which included appearing in two World Cups (2006,2010). After the 2010 World Cup in Venezuela, Landry decided to hang up her cleats and step over to the coaching ranks. Beginning with the annual Bantam Girls trip to Cuba in February 2011, Landry also coached at the International Friendship Series in Cary, NC last August and returned to Cuba with the Bantam Girls last February. Landry is currently completeing a Masters in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa with a Concentration in Intervention and Consultation. She lists her favourite MLB team as the Boston Red Sox and favourite player is Dustin Pedroia. Her off-field interests include Sports Psychology. Patricia a joué pour l équipe nationale pendant cinq saisons ( ) et a participé à deux coupes du monde (2006 et 2010). Suite à la coupe du monde au Vénézuela en 2010, Landry a décidé de prendre sa retraite afin de devenir entraîneure. Débutant avec le camp de Cuba en février 2011, elle a également été entraîneure lors de la série internationale à Cary, NC en août avant de retourner à Cuba en février. Landry complète présentement une maîtrise en sciences de l activité physique à l Université d Ottawa avec une spécialité en intervention & consultation. Elle aile les Red Sox de Boston et Dutin Pedroia. Elle a de l intérêt pour la psychologie du sport. 10

11 SAMANTHA MAGALAS COACH/ENTRAÎNEUR Born/Né: 9/4/1982 Birthplace/Lieu de naissance: Burlington, ON Age/âge: 30 Samantha is a graduate of the Women s National Team program having spent with the club where she participated in three World Cups (2004, 2006, and 2008). In her playing days, Magalas played first base and earned tournament all-star awards at the 2004 World Cup and 2004 Japan World Series. Magalas was a guest coach with the Women s National Team in 2011 at the International Series in Cary, NC and will be attending her first World Cup as a coach in Edmonton. Magalas currently works as a Sport Development Officer for Ontario University Athletics and also is an instructor for Toronto Blue Jays Instructional Camps. Samantha est une ex-joueuse de l équipe nationale féminine après avoir été sélectionnée sur l équipe lors des saisons 2004 à 2009 tout en participant à trois coupes du monde (2004, 2006, 2008). Magalas évoluait au poste de premier but et fut sélectionnée sur l équipe d étoiles lors de la coupe du monde de 2004 et de la série mondiale Magalas fut entraîneure-invitée avec le programme national en 2011 lors de la série internationale à Cary, NC et participera à sa première coupe du monde en tant qu entraîneure à Edmonton. Elle travaille présentement comme gestionnaire au développement du sport pour l association du sport universitaire de l Ontario et enseigne lors des camps des Blue Jays de Toronto.. 11

12 RAYMONDE FORTIN ATHLETIC THERAPIST/SOIGNEUR Physiotherapist in chief and co-owner of Action sport physio Clinic in Montréal, Raymonde has the highest level of specialization in sports physiotherapy in Canada as well as manual therapy. Since her graduation, she has never stopped showing her interest in orthopedics and sports medicine. Raymonde has participated in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, 2000 Paralympics in Sydney, 1999 World University Games in Spain, 1998 Olympics in Nagano and 1996 Paralympics in Atlanta. Raymonde is back for her 6th season with the Women s National Team. Physiothérapeute en chef et co-propriétaire de la clinique Action Sports physio de Montréal, Raymonde possède le plus haut niveau de spécialisation en physiothérapie sportive au Canada ainsi qu en thérapie manuelle. Depuis sa graduation, Raymonde n a jamais cessé de manifester un grand intérêt en orthopédie et en médecine sportive. Sa participation à de nombreux évènements sportifs d envergure démontre bien cet intérêt. Elle a participé aux Jeux Olympiques de Pékin en 2008, Jeux Paralympiques de Sydney en 2000, Championnats du Monde Universitaires en Espagne en 1999, Olympiques de Nagano en 1998 et Jeux Paralympiques d Atlanta en Elle est de retour pour une 6 e saison avec l équipe. VINCENT TURPIN - EQUIP. MGR/GÉRANT DE L ÉQUIPEMENT Vincent Turpin joined the Women s National Team staff at the International Friendship Series in Cary, NC in He is currently doing a Masters in Physiotherapy at the University of Ottawa. Vincent enjoys volleyball, soccer and sailing sports. He was an avid Montréal Expos fan and lists Tim Lincecum as his favourite baseball player. Vincent spent much of the last year backpacking in Europe and Northern Africa. Vincent s est joint à l équipe lors de la série internationale à Cary, NC en Il complète présentement une maîtrise en physiothérapie à l université d Ottawa. Vincent aime le volleyball, le soccer et les sports nautiques. Il était un partisan des Expos de Montréal et aime Tin Lincecum. 13 PENNY FITZSIMMONS - BUSINESS MGR/CHEF DE MISSION Penny returns as Team Canada business manager for her fifth World Cup. Penny is a retired teacher and a proud mother of three children. Her husband Allan has been involved with Saskatchewan Baseball and Baseball Canada as a volunteer for several years. Her nephew, Brooks Laich, is a member of the Washington Capitals professional hockey team (NHL). She is a Toronto Blue Jays fan and lists George Bell and Joe Carter as her all-time favourite Blue Jays. Penny est de retour comme chef de mission de l équipe nationale pour une 5e coupe du monde. ADAM MORISSETTE MEDIA MANAGER/GÉRANT MÉDIAS This is Adam s first World Cup with the Women s National Team. Adam has been a full-time employee of Baseball Canada since 2010 as the Manager Media/PR. With Baseball Canada he has attended the IBAF 18U World Championships (2010), IBAF World Cup (2011) and Pan American Games (2011) where Canada won the gold medal. Adam is a graduate of the Sport Business Management program at Algonquin College in Ottawa. Ce sera la première coupe du monde féminine pour Adam.
