4 LA COUR- SIVE THE PASSAGEWAY La Coursive est une classe de mise à niveau destinée aux candidats non francophones désirant se présenter aux concours d écoles d art et design françaises. Il s agit d une double formation en français et en art plastique avec une prédominance du design. La formation est de 25 h hebdomadaires en face-àface, auxquelles s ajoutent des heures de projet et de travail en autonomie, soit 700 heures au total, portée conjointement par l Université Jean Monnet de Saint-Etienne à travers son centre de préparation linguistique (CILEC) et l Ecole Supérieure d art et design de Saint-Etienne (ESADSE). Le cycle de formation réparti sur deux semestres, pour un total de 25 semaines, est sanctionné par un diplôme universitaire de préparation aux concours des écoles d art (DU PCEA). LES ÉTABLISSEMENTS PARTENAIRES DE HAUT NIVEAU L ESADSE Installée depuis la rentrée 2009 sur le site de l ancienne manufacture d armes de la ville, l ESADSE bénéficie d un environnement unique en France. Réunie depuis 2010 avec la Cité du design au sein d un Etablissement Public de Coopération Culturelle (EPCC), l ESADSE est au cœur d un projet ambitieux de développement du territoire, de recherche et d innovation qui croise les champs artistique, culturel et économique. Au sein de la Cité du design, plateforme dédiée au design envisagé comme vecteur de mutations sociales et de dynamiques économiques, l ESADSE porte à la fois l exigence artistique et la dimension de l enseignement supérieur, à travers une offre de formation et de recherche structurée autour de deux axes : l art et le design. Accueillant entre 300 et 350 étudiants par an, l école propose une formation en 5 années et deux diplômes : le Diplôme National d Art Plastique et le Diplôme National Supérieur d Expression Plastique qui a grade de Master. L UNIVERSITÉ JEAN MONNET Au cœur de l agglomération de Saint-Etienne qui compte habitants, largement ouverte sur le monde socio-économique, l Université Jean-Monnet accueille aujourd hui plus de étudiants et joue un rôle primordial au sein de son environnement. Pluridisciplinaire, elle propose le plus large éventail de formations de la région Rhône-Alpes. Université à taille humaine, elle met tout en œuvre pour la réussite et l épanouissement de ses étudiants : enseignements de qualité, accompagnement pédagogique, aide à l insertion professionnelle, participation des élus étudiants aux conseils centraux, accès à plus de

LE CILEC Le Centre International de Langue Et Civilisation, créé en 1978, est l école de l Université Jean Monnet dédiée à l enseignement du français. En reçoit chaque année plus de 500 étudiants venant de plus de 30 pays différents. Le CILEC, situé dans des locaux modernes, accessibles et parfaitement équipés, sera à votre service pour vous faire progresser rapidement et efficacement dans l apprentissage de la langue française. UN TERRITOIRE PORTEUR : SAINT-ETIENNE, VILLE DE DESIGN UNESCO Ville universitaire et traditionnellement industrielle, Saint-Etienne est entrée dans le XXIe siècle en devenant ville de design UNESCO. Connue nationalement pour la qualité de son accueil et la chaleur de ses habitants, l agglomération stéphanoise compte environ habitants dont étudiants. Profitant de sa proximité de Lyon (45 minutes en train), Saint-Etienne est un point d entrée idéal pour visiter les Alpes, la Côte d Azur ou Paris.

6 Partant du constat du manque de préparation des étudiants internationaux aux concours d entrée des écoles d art et design, le CILEC et l ESADSE ont souhaité s unir pour offrir la première passerelle d accompagnement de ces étudiants dans une préparation efficace à ces concours. Ce programme, unique en France pour son alliance entre une Ecole d Art et de Design et une Université, offre ainsi une préparation tout spécialement calibrée pour la réussite des étudiants internationaux de leurs études artistiques. LES PLUS DE LA COURSIVE > Une formation basée à Saint-Etienne, une ville du réseau Unesco pour le Design > Unique programme français en partenariat entre une université et une école d art et de design pour la préparation des étudiants internationaux > Une aide à l installation en France et un service d accompagnement dans les démarches administratives (visa, réservation d un logement, assurances, CAF, banque etc.) > Une formation menée par des professionnels du FLE et des professionnels de l art et du design > Des sites uniques intégrant des locaux modernes et équipés pour un enseignement par les TICE > Un suivi pédagogique personnalisé permanent > Une formation diplômante OBJECTIFS PÉDAGOGIQUES ET MÉTHODOLOGIQUES : Enseignement mixte avec le CILEC pour l apprentissage de la langue française et de ses spécificités culturelles. L enjeu est d atteindre le niveau B2 du CECR tout en préparant les candidats aux concours en abordant la langue française à travers des problématiques plastiques. Pour la formation plastique, assurée par l ESADSE, il s agit de préparer les candidats à appréhender l art et le design par la dimension du projet. La finalité n étant pas de se situer dans une production de formes générées pour ellesmêmes, mais bien d articuler un sens plastique et critique qui trouverait son expression par la production de formes. La méthodologie développée doit permettre d accompagner l étudiant dans la constitution de son travail préparatoire en vue du concours, mais aussi apporter les bases d une pensée critique soutenue par la langue française indispensable à la présentation de concours en école d art et design.

10 AXES SUR LE CONTENU DES PRATIQUES ARTISTIQUES 300H Pour la formation plastique, assurée par l ESADSE, il s agit de préparer les candidats à appréhender l art et le design par la dimension du projet. La finalité n étant pas de se situer dans une production de formes générées pour elles-mêmes, mais bien d articuler une démarche artistique cohérente. Chaque étudiant devra développer au travers de plusieurs sujets une autonomie créative. Une attention sera portée sur le travail du dessin et sur les connaissances techniques de l étudiant. La méthodologie développée permettra d accompagner l étudiant dans la constitution de son travail préparatoire en vue du concours et de constituer un dossier de travaux pertinent ; elle apportera également les bases d une pensée critique soutenue par la langue française indispensable à la présentation de concours en école d art et design. 16 LA COURSIVE THE PAS- SAGE- WAY La Coursive is a foundation course for non-frenchspeaking applicants who wish to take the competitive entrance exams for French art and design schools. It is a dual course in French and plastic arts with the emphasis on design. The course consists of 25 hours a week of face-toface teaching, plus hours for project and personal work, making a total of 700 hours, run jointly by Université Jean Monnet in Saint-Etienne through its language preparation centre (CILEC) and the ESADSE (Saint-Etienne Higher School of Art and Design). The course takes place over two semesters, covering a total of 25 weeks, and leads to a university diploma in art school competitive examination preparation (the DU PCEA). HIGH-LEVEL PARTNER ESTABLISHMENTS ESADSE Based since the beginning of the 2009 academic year on the old Manufacture d Armes site in the city, the ESADSE benefits from an environment that is unique in France. Since 2010 the ESADSE and the Cité du Design have together formed an EPCC (public institution for cultural cooperation), and the school is one of the core elements in an ambitious territorial development, research and innovation plan that covers the artistic, cultural and economic spheres. Within the Cité du Design, a platform dedicated to design envisaged as a vector of social change and economic dynamism, the ESADSE addresses both the artistic requirement and the higher education dimension, with a training and research offer structured around two areas: art and design. With 300 to 350 students a year, the school proposes a 5-year training programme and two diplomas: the DNAP (national diploma in plastic arts) and the DNSEP (national postgraduate diploma in plastic arts) which is equivalent to a Masters. 18 Having observed that most international students taking the competitive entrance examinations for French Art and Design schools lack preparation, the CILEC and the ESADSE have decided to work together to offer this first «passageway» course to support such students in effectively preparing for these entrance examinations. This course, a unique example in France of an Art and Design school and a University working together, thus offers a preparatory course specially calibrated to help international students succeed in their art studies. For the plastic arts training, provided by the ESADSE, the aim is to prepare candidates for a project-based approach to art and design. The final aim being not to produce forms generated for their own sake, but to genuinely to articulate a plastic and critical meaning expressed by the production of forms. The methodology we have developed is intended to help the students to build up their preparatory work for the competitive examination, but also to give them the bases of critical thought in the French that they will be need to sit the Art and Design school competitive examinations.

22 CONTENT OF THE PRACTI- CAL ARTISTIC SIDE OF THE COURSE: 300 HOURS For the plastic arts training, provided by the ESADSE, the aim is to prepare candidates for a project-based approach to art and design. The final aim being not to produce forms generated for their own sake, but to genuinely to articulate a coherent artistic approach. The students must each develop their creative autonomy by working on a number of subjects. Attention will be paid to the students drawing skills and technical knowledge. The methodology we have developed will help the students to build up their preparatory work for the competitive examination and to constitute a body of relevant work; it will also give them the bases of critical thought in the French that they will be need to sit the Art and Design school competitive examinations.
