3 EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD First Reading: Acts 10:34a, In this passage, Peter testifies that he and his followers saw the miracles performed by Christ, witnessed His death, and believe in His resurrection. Now they will proclaim to all that Christ is the Son of God. Second Reading: Colossians 3:1-4 Paul tells the Colossians that they will appear with Christ in glory. They should be mindful of things above rather than things on earth. Gospel: John 20:1-9 In vivid detail, John tells us that when Mary Magdalene visited Christ s tomb, the tomb was empty. She told the apostles, who ran to the tomb, and saw the wrappings on the ground. The disciple who entered first saw and believed. Dear Parishioners, Long ago St. Augustin said: we are an Easter people, and our song is Alleluia. This is certainly so, for the heart and core of our faith is the Easter message. Easter is a time of rebirth and renewal. During the beautiful days of Holy Week there will be many opportunities for a living reconciliation with your God. Easter, the celebration of the resurrection, commemorates the victory of Christ over worldly evil including sin and death. Easter is the climax of the great mystery of our salvation. We pray that you will join as fully as you can in sharing with us the mysteries of the Holiest Week and so more clearly hear Him greet us as we shout the victory Hymn Christ has Risen from the dead. I prayerfully remain, Fr. Levelt Germain Pastor Let us pay heed to the good news brought by Mary Magdalen more swiftly than a man, thanks to her faith. What is this good news that she brings? That which comes not from human beings nor through a human being but through Jesus Christ (Gal 1,1). Listen, she says, to what the Lord has told us to tell you you whom he calls his brothers: 'I go to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God' (Jn 20,17). O what beautiful, good news! He who,for our sake, became as one of us that he might make of us his brethren, draws all humankind with him to the true Father. He who, for the sake of his many brethren (Rm 8,29), became the Firstborn of the good creation through his flesh, has drawn all nature along with him. EASTER FLOWERS AND MUSIC As Easter approaches quickly our thoughts come to our sanctuary decoration and music for Easter. I call upon each parishioner to be extra-generous as you have been in the past to help with the expenses for both Easter Flowers and extra Musicians for our masses on Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday. Donation for Easter Music can be included in your weekly envelopes offering. We kindly ask to consider making a generous Easter gift to your parish. Again thank you for your generosity. Easter flower envelopes are available in the back of the Church. Donations may be made in memory of a loved one. The envelopes will be kept in the sanctuary during the entire Easter Season. One of the seven spiritual works of mercy is to pray for the living and the dead. It is very important to pray for the intentions of both the living members of our family, as well as for the repose of the souls of our beloved family members by scheduling a mass intention for them throughout the year. Stop by the rectory to arrange for a mass to be celebrated for a loved one.

4 DOMINGO DE PASCUA Primera Lectura: Hechos 10:34a, Este pesaje, Pedro testifica que él y sus seguidores vieron los milagros que Cristo hizo, presenciaron su muerte, y que creen en su resurrección. Ahora proclamarán a todos que Cristo es el Hijo de Dios. Segunda Lectura: Colosenses 3:1-4 Pablo les dice a los colosenses que ellos aparecerán con Cristo en gloria. Deben poner atención a las cosas del cielo más que a las de la tierra. Evangelio: San Juan 20:1-9 Con gran detalle, Juan nos dice que cuando María Magdalena visitó la tumba de Cristo, la tumba estaba vacía. Les dijo esto a los apóstoles, quienes corrieron a la tumba, y vieron las vendas en el suelo. El discípulo que entró primero vió y creyó. Queridos feligreses, Hace mucho tiempo San Agustín dijo "somos un pueblo Pascual y nuestra canción es el Aleluya." Esto es cierto ya que este es el corazón y en el centro de nuestra fe en el mensaje pascual. La Pascua es un tiempo de renacer y renovación. En los bellos días de la Semana Santa, habrá muchas oportunidades de reconciliación con Dios. La Pascua es la celebración de la resurrección y conmemora la victoria de Cristo sobre el pecado, la maldad mundana y la muerte. La Pascua es el momento culminante del gran misterio de nuestra salvación. Es nuestra oración que ustedes y sus seres queridos se unan con nosotros en esta Semana Santa y puedan compartir con nosotros los misterios de la Semana Santa y por lo tanto podamos escuchar más claramente el saludo de Nuestro Señor mientras gritamos el Himno de la victoria, Cristo ha resucitado de entre los muertos! Por favor anímese junto con sus seres queridos y unidos en comunidad vamos a celebrar la alegría de la Pascua. En Cristo Jesus Padre Levelt Germain Pastor Una de las 7 obras Espirituales de Misericordia es de rezar por los vivos y muertos. Es muy importante de rezar por los miembros vivos y muertos de nuestras familias ofreciendo la Santa Misa por el bienestar de los vivos y el eterno descanso de los muertos. Por favor pase por la rectoría para anotar su intención para ser ofrecida durante la Misa. El Domingo de Resurrección o de Pascua es la fiesta más importante para todos los católicos, ya que con la Resurrección de Jesús es cuando adquiere sentido toda nuestra religión. Cristo triunfó sobre la muerte y con esto nos abrió las puertas del Cielo. En la Misa dominical recordamos de una manera especial esta gran alegría. Se enciende el Cirio Pascual que representa la luz de Cristo resucitado y que permanecerá prendido hasta el día de la Ascensión, cuando Jesús sube al Cielo. La Resurrección de Jesús es un hecho histórico, cuyas pruebas entre otras, son el sepulcro vacío y las numerosas apariciones de Jesucristo a sus apóstoles. Cuando celebramos la Resurrección de Cristo, estamos celebrando también nuestra propia liberación. Celebramos la derrota del pecado y de la muerte. En la resurrección encontramos la clave de la esperanza cristiana: si Jesús está vivo y está junto a nosotros, qué podemos temer?, qué nos puede preocupar? Cualquier sufrimiento adquiere sentido con la Resurrección, pues podemos estar seguros de que, después de una corta vida en la tierra, si hemos sido fieles, llegaremos a una vida nueva y eterna, en la que gozaremos de Dios para siempre. Con la Pascua rápidamente acercándose nuestro enfoque y pensamientos se dirigen hacia la decoración de nuestra Parroquia para la semana santa. Hago un llamamiento a cada feligrés a ser más generosos como lo ha sido en el pasado para ayudarnos a cubrir los gastos de las flores y los músicos de nuestras Misas en la Vigilia Pascual y Domingo de Pascua. Las Donaciones para los músicos pueden ser incluidas en los sobres semanales. Le pedimos amablemente a que consideren la posibilidad de hacer una donación generosa a su parroquia. Gracias de nuevo por su generosidad. Los sobres para las flores están disponibles en la parte posterior de la Iglesia. Las donaciones pueden realizarse en la memoria de un ser querido. 5 MESSE DU JOUR DE PÂQUES 1ère lecture : Les Apôtres témoins de la Résurrection (Ac 10, 34a.37-43) Quand Pierre arriva de Césarée chez un centurion de l'armée romaine, il prit la parole : Vous savez ce qui s'est passé à travers tout le pays des Juifs... Psaume : Ps 117, 1.4, 16-17, R/ Ce jour que fit le Seigneur est un jour de joie, alléluia! Rendez grâce au Seigneur : Il est bon! Éternel est son amour! Qu ils le disent, ceux qui craignent le Seigneur : Éternel est son amour! Le bras du Seigneur se lève... 2ème lecture : Vivre avec le Christ ressuscité (Col 3, 1-4) Frères, vous êtes ressuscités avec le Christ. Recherchez donc les réalités d en haut : c est là qu est le Christ, assis à la droite... Séquence : À la victime pascale, chrétiens, offrez le sacrifice de louange. L Agneau a racheté les brebis; le Christ innocent a réconcilié l homme pécheur... Evangile : Le tombeau vide et la foi des Apôtres (Jn 20, 1-9) Le premier jour de la semaine, Marie Madeleine se rend au tombeau de grand matin, alors qu'il fait encore sombre. Elle voit que la pierre a été enlevée du tombeau. Elle court do... Décoration Florale et Animation Musicale A l approche des fêtes de Pâques, nous portons une attention spéciale sur la décoration du sanctuaire et l animation musicale. Cette année, les dépenses pour les fleurs sont très élevées et nous avons besoin de plus de musiciens pour la célébration de la veillée pascale et celle du dimanche de Pâques. Pour ce faire, je demanderais à chaque paroissien d'être très généreux, comme par le passé, pour aider avec les dépenses. Les dons peuvent être faits à la mémoire d'un être cher. Nous vous demandons d'examiner la possibilité de faire de généreux cadeaux de Pâques à votre paroisse. Les enveloppes pour les fleurs sont disponibles à l'arrière de l'église ; elles seront dans le sanctuaire pendant toute la période de Pâques. Encore une fois merci de votre générosité. Intention de Messe L une des sept œuvres de miséricorde spirituelle est de prier pour les vivants et les morts. Il est très important de prier pour les membres vivants de votre famille ainsi que pour le repos des âmes de ceux qui vous aviez connus et aimés. Vous pouvez passer au presbytère pour programmer, tout au long de l année, les intentions de messe à célébrer pour vos chers. VOIR, COMPRENDRE ET CROIRE Les linges sont toujours en place, affaissés. Rien n a bougé, mais le corps n est plus là. Comme parti de l intérieur. Incompréhensible, strictement. Le disciple que Jésus aimait aperçoit ces linges. Pierre les contemple. Mais tout est insensé. Qui aurait pu avoir l idée d emporter le corps nu en remettant tout en place? Et pourquoi? Soudain, entrant à son tour, le disciple voit. Il voit l invisible. Il «voit» comme on dit: Je vois ce que tu veux dire. Autrement dit, il comprend. Il comprend la réalité de ce que Jésus avait annoncé. Alors, il croit ce que Jésus avait dit. Il voit maintenant qu il fallait que Jésus ressuscite d entre les morts Il y a là d abord un fait brut, qui s impose: le tombeau est ouvert, tout est resté en place comme au vendredi soir, mais le corps de Jésus n est plus là Reste à comprendre, à interpréter ces indices. La foi en l annonce que Jésus fait de sa résurrection permet cette interprétation. La rencontre du -Ressuscité vient confirmer qu on a bien fait de croire, ou vient susciter cette foi. Au soir de Pâques, le Seigneur fera une longue catéchèse avec les disciples d Emmaüs. Il ouvrira leur esprit à l intelligence des Écritures. Et il leur apprendra à revenir au geste si surprenant du Jeudi saint: anticipation de sa venue en gloire, réalisation de sa présence. L Eucharistie célébrée dans la foi demeure, jusqu au retour du -Seigneur, la manifestation permanente du Ressuscité. Elle nous fait entrer dans l offrande qu il fait de sa vie. Communiant au Ressuscité, nous pouvons mourir à nous-mêmes pour aimer. Comme lui. Chers paroissiens, Il y a longtemps St. Augustin a dit "nous sommes un peuple de Pâques, et notre chanson est Alléluia" C'est bien sûr, fort de notre foi, notre message Pascal. Pâques est le temps de la renaissance et du renouveau. Pendant les beaux jours de la Semaine Sainte, il y aura de nombreuses occasions pour vivre la réconciliation avec Dieu. Pâques, célébration de la résurrection, commémore la victoire du Christ sur le mal du monde : le péché et la mort. Pâques est le point culminant du grand mystère de notre salut. Nous prions pour que vous vous joigniez à nous, aussi pleinement que vous pouvez, pour partager ensemble les mystères de la Semaine Sainte, et ouvrir pleinement notre cœur en chantant les paroles de sa victoire Le Christ est ressuscité d'entre les morts. Veuillez encourager vos proches à se joindre à vous afin que nous ayons tous une sainte et heureuse Pâques. MARCH /50 WINNER CONGRATULATIONS TO ROSEMARIE MUSACCHIO DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY: APRIL 2014 Living the Message of Mercy On February 22, 1931, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ appeared to this simple nun, bringing with Him a wonderful message of Mercy for all mankind. Saint Faustina tells us in her diary under this date: "In the evening, when I was in my cell, I became aware of the Lord Jesus clothed in a white garment. One hand was raised in blessing, the other was touching the garment at the breast. From the opening of the garment at the breast there came forth two large rays, one red and the other pale. In silence I gazed intently at the Lord; my soul was overwhelmed with fear, but also with great joy. After a while Jesus said to me, 'paint an image according to the pattern you see, with the inscription: Jesus, I trust in You.'" Some time later, Our Lord again spoke to her: "The pale ray stands for the Water which makes souls righteous; the red ray stands for the Blood which is the life of souls. These two rays issued forth from the depths of My most tender Mercy at that time when My agonizing Heart was opened by a lance on the Cross...Fortunate is the one who will dwell in their shelter, for the just hand of God shall not lay hold of him." The devotional practices revealed through Saint Faustina were given to us as "vessels of mercy" through which God's love can be poured out upon the world, but they are not sufficient unto themselves. It's not enough for us to hang The Divine Mercy image in our homes, pray the Chaplet every day at three o'clock, and receive Holy Communion on the first Sunday after Easter. We also have to show mercy to our neighbors. Putting mercy into action is not an option of the Divine Mercy Devotion; it's a requirement! Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.
