Rituel du cours d anglais : What time is it? Oh, it s English time! Come on! Rappel 1 (se présenter, demander comment on va) : Hello Puppet / Teacher! How are you today? Rappel 2 (vocabulaire objets puis couverture du livre) : What s this? Distribution des livres : Who s book is this? It s (nom d un élève) s book. Here you are (nom d un élève). This is your book. L élève répond au moins : Thank you, Teacher. Mieux encore : Yes, this is my book. So, what do we know? Who s this? (C est qui?) What s this? (C est quoi?) Where is she / he? (Où est-elle / il?) What s she / he doing? (Que fait-elle / il?) What does she / he say? (Que dit-elle / il?) Do you remember? Who s this? This is Noah. Where is he? He s in the ghost train. What is he doing? He s climbing a ladder to the top of the ghost train. What for? To find the Book of Kells near the vampire bat. 2
Who comes in the door? Two men come in the door. What do Noah and Fiona do? They run to the Garda. So What s the story? The story is called Noah et l énigme du Ghost Train. Noah s school has an exchange with an Irish school in Ireland, near Dublin. Noah is sad because his correspondent is a girl. But Fiona plays Gaelic football. He s a policeman, a Garda. The following morning, Noah finds something in the hood of his sweat shirt. Fiona takes Noah to the library to look on the Internet. The object Noah found is a clasp of the Book of Kells. Fiona says they must go back to the ghost train. They climb up to the top, but two men come in. Fiona climbs down and Noah throws her the books like in Gaelic football. Fiona runs, but the men nearly catch her. She throws the books to Noah and he runs to the Garda station. Very good! Perfect! Excellent! Let s listen to the beginning of chapter eleven! Écoute de l audio Chapter eleven jusqu à stop them. Les élèves suivent sur leurs livres. So What did we hear in English? Do you remember? Let s listen again. Fun and fair people. It s the title of chapter eleven What do the words fun and fair make up? Funfair. 3
Fête foraine. But they also mean something else. Right. Chapter eleven. Let s see what happens! What does that mean? He looked at Noah. Then at the two books under Noah s arm. What are you doing with those books? Que fais-tu avec ces livres? Those are part of the Book of Kells that were stolen. We have to help Fiona. Nous devons aider Fiona. We have to hurry. Nous devons nous dépêcher. Stop! Come back! Arrête! Reviens! Stop him! Quickly! Arrêtez-le! Vite! He ran into the funfair. Fiona was not at the entrance. Fiona n était pas à l entrée. But he saw two men taking her towards the ghost train. He ran even faster. Il courut encore plus vite. His correspondent looked and saw him. Sa correspondante regarda et le vit. The two men looked and saw him. Les deux hommes regardèrent et le virent. Then they saw all the policemen. Puis ils virent tous les policiers. They stopped taking Fiona and ran. Fiona shouted. Fiona cria. Those men stole the Book of Kells. They are the thieves. Ce sont les voleurs. Stop them! Arrêtez-les! Very good! Perfect! Excellent! // Are you sure? Is that right? So what s happened? 4
At the Garda station Noah wants to explain, but he can t find the words. So he runs to help Fiona and the policemen follow him. At the funfair, the men are taking Fiona towards the ghost train. The men see the policemen and stop taking Fiona. They run. Fiona shouts: They are thieves. Stop them! À la fin, clore la séance : Okay, everybody. English time is over. Et vous repassez en français. WEEK EIGHT / Séances 31 & 32 Consolidation Chapters one to ten et lecture Chapter eleven (deuxième moitié) Rituel de cours d anglais : What time is it? Oh, it s English time! Come on! Do you remember the book? What s the story? What s it about? The story is called Noah et l énigme du Ghost Train. Noah s school has an exchange with an Irish school in Ireland, near Dublin. The men see the policemen and stop taking Fiona. They run. Fiona shouts: They are thieves. Stop them! Where is she / he? What s she / he doing? What happened at the beginning of the chapter? Réponses espérées : Noah takes the Garda to the funfair. The men stop taking Fiona and run. She shouts Stop them. Very good! Perfect! Excellent! So Shall we listen to the end of chapter eleven? Listen carefully. There s lots of English. So listen well. Let s listen to the rest of chapter eleven. So What did we hear in English? Do you remember? Let s listen again. What does that mean? Réponse These men are not from the funfair. Ces hommes ne sont pas des forains. We are fair people, we re not thieves. We re here so people can have fun and enjoy themselves. The policemen arrested the two men. Les policiers arrêtèrent les deux hommes. Noah looked at Fiona. Noah regarda Fiona. She was very happy to see him. Elle était très heureuse de le voir. You were perfect. Tu étais parfait. You ran so fast! Tu as couru si / tellement vite! Fiona, what s all this? Fiona, que se passe-t-il? Where did you find the books? Où as-tu trouvé les livres? It was Noah. He found a metal object in his sweat shirt hood. And he said it had fallen on him when we were in the ghost train. And the object reminded me of the Book of Kells. So we looked on the Internet. And found a picture of the cover of one of the books. With a clasp to close it. It was exactly the same as the object Noah had found. So we wanted to make sure the books were in the ghost train. And you nearly got yourselves caught by the thieves. You were nearly caught by dangerous thieves. 7
You should have come to me. Children must not resolve mysteries. They must tell the police. But then he smiled. Vous auriez dû venir me voir. Well done, Noah! Bravo, Noah! You ve done a very good job! C est du très bon boulot! Thank you for helping to get the Book of Kells back. All Ireland will want to thank you and FIona. Fiona s father took the two books from Noah. Now we ll take the two books back to Trinity College Dublin. Then you two can go home and have some tea*. Very good! Perfect! Excellent! // Are you sure? Is that right? So what s happened in the story? Noah took the policemen to the funfair and they arrested the thieves. Fiona s father is very happy, but he says children must tell the police about thieves. 8
