17 Compliance Management of requirements Compliance is a term for meeting the laws and regulations in business, also contractual requirements and voluntary codes. La conformité est un terme pour relever les lois et règlements dans les entreprises, les exigences contractuelles et aussi des codes volontaires. The totality of the principles and systematic practices of a company to comply with certain rules and thus to avoid breaking the rules in a company is called compliance management system. By target-balancing any deviations are identified. Act - the causes of discrepancies are eliminated, the CIP/PDCS can start again. Interdisciplinary tasks / Teamwork! 64 1. Sustainable production Goal of sustainable management is to operate the company (successfully) long-lasting in accordance with (self) prescribed economic, social and environmental objectives. The field of economy includes innovation, quality and risk management as well as the classical economic goals of increasing sales, profits and market share. The field of environment includes a resource-saving, eco-efficient economy and protecting the environment. The field of social action includes the compliance with human rights, collective bargaining law and (occupational) health and societal standards. 65 2. Resource Efficiency Resource efficiency = ratio of specific benefits or income to the required resources. In the field of environmental protection resource is meant by "natural resources" as raw materials, materials (including water), energy; occasionally even surface area. Increasing resource efficiency is a strategy for the relative or absolute reduction of resource utilisation: less material and energy consumption and less pollution per benefit (eg. product quantity in tons or units). It affects the entire life cycle from raw material extraction, through material selection, product development, preproduction, production, use of product and recycling/disposal. L'efficacité des ressources = rapport entre les prestations spécifiques ou des revenus des ressources nécessaires. Dans le domaine de la protection de l'environnement des ressources, on entend par «ressources naturelles» que les matières premières, des matériaux (y compris l'eau), de l'énergie; parfois même superficie. Accroître l'efficacité des ressources est une stratégie pour la réduction relative ou absolue de l'utilisation des ressources: moins de consommation matérielle et énergétique et moins de pollution par prestation versée (quantité de produit par exemple en tonnes ou en unités). 67 4. Cleaner Production - CP Production-related aspect of resource efficiency CP is in direct control of any company!! The term CP means both technical and organisational changes in production processes and production systems, through which one can achieve a reduction of environmental impact. Through CP the generation of environmental impact is reduced already within the individual production steps, and not after the production process in form of end-of-pipe protection measures.
