1 NOUVEAU BRUNSWICK Mount Allison University Université de Moncton Baccalauréat appliqué en design intérieur Nouveau programme D une durée de 4 ans, le programme offre une formation universitaire de base en sciences humaines et sociales, laquelle sera jumelée à la composante technique en design d intérieur offerte au CCNB Dieppe afin de répondre aux exigences du Conseil d accréditation en design d intérieur (CADI), organisme international responsable de l accréditation des programmes de design d intérieur. Les 1re et 4e années du programme se donneront au Campus de Moncton de l Université de Moncton; les 2e et 3e années, au CCNB Dieppe. L étudiante ou l étudiant obtiendra un diplôme collégial en design d intérieur après la 3e année du programme et un Baccalauréat appliqué en design d intérieur après la 4e année. Les étudiantes et étudiants à temps plein doivent suivre quatre séminaires sur une période d'une année universitaire. De ces séminaires, deux sont offerts par le Département d'anglais et les deux autres par le Département d'études françaises. Le Département d'anglais offrira un séminaire de deuxième cycle en «Theory of Comparative Lit.», ainsi qu'un séminaire choisi parmi les deux suivants: «Comp. Lit of Atlantic Canada» et «Themes in Canadian Comp Lit.». Quant au Département d'études françaises il offrira deux séminaires en études littéraires consacrés soit à la littérature québécoise, soit aux littératures d'expression française du Canada. Le programme nécessitera la réussite de trois stages en entreprise. Les trois stages sont d'une durée de 12 à 16 semaines chacun et ne comportent pas de crédit. Le BAA concentration gestion internationale existant comprend 127 crédits, et le nouveau programme proposé avec régime co op comprend 121 crédits; six crédits dans les cours ont été éliminés. À determiner En suspens en attendant la réception des commentaires du us de distribution University of Brunswick Master of Nursing, Nurse Educator Currently, the Master of Nursing program at UNB is approved with a Thesis/Report Stream (MN) and a Nurse Practitioner Stream (MN, NP). The proposed modification is to add a course based Nurse Educator Stream (MN, NE). Change: Joint Master of Arts in Sport and Recreation Administration / MBA to an MBA in Sport and Recreation Management (UNB, Fredericton) Bachelor of Information Sciences, Software Development The proposed modification is to offer an MBA in Sport and Recreation Management in which students complete most of the core MBA program courses and replace electives with Kinesiology courses. Students can choose to complete a course only, thesis or internship option. The program is to be completed over two years of full time study. The proposed program builds on UNBSJ s existing Bachelor of Information Sciences program where students have the opportunity to specialize in Decision and Business Management or Decision and System s Science. The proposed program provides a third option for specialization and can be completed entirely at UNBSJ or by completing a two year Diploma at NBCC followed by 22 courses at UNBSJ (just over 2 years). 2 Bachelor of Applied Health Certificate in Community Leadership BBA, Major in Marketing BA, Double Major in Linguistics St. Thomas University Yorkville University Master of Education (proposal submitted under the NBDGA) Bachelor of Business Administration (proposal submitted under the NBDGA) NOUVELLE ÉCOSSE Acadia University BBA, Major in Accounting BBA, Major in Marketing Atlantic School of Theology Cape Breton University Bachelor of Arts (three year), Concentration in Ethnomusicology This is a full time, post diploma degree designated primarily to meet the needs of international students with a diploma in a health discipline applying from outside Canada and for domestic students with a health related diploma other than those served by the BHS program. The combination of block credit from the applied skills based education from the approved professional diploma program (2 years) and the complementary education from the University (2 years 69ch) provides the basis on which the applied health degree is offered. The program will provide an opportunity for students enrolled full time in UNBSJ's Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Applied Management degree programs to participate in a focused program in Community Leadership. Students will complete 18 credit hours of course work that will include four term academic courses up to 160 hours of volunteer service, up to three certificate related workshops, and a training course. The proposed program is a 27ch Marketing major in UNBSJ's four year, 120ch Bachelor of Business Administration program. Students must complete five required courses, two electives from a group of marketing courses and two electives from a list of courses in a related discipline. The proposed program is one component of a Double Major, completed as part of a four year, 120ch degree program. The Linguistics part of the Double Major requires 30ch, which can be fulfilled over two years. The proposed program is a Master of Education program with four streams (Educational Leadership, Inclusive Education, Adult Education and Guidance and Counselling). The Educational Leadership, Inclusive Education and Adult Education streams require 36 credits and can be completed in two years (6 trimesters). Each stream includes a 6 credit major research paper or a 6 credit supervised practicum. the Guidance and Counselling stream requires 48 credits, including 2 three credit practicum courses and can be completed in less than three years (8 trimesters). The objective of the proposed programs is to prepare students for a specialized field of educational practice. Those already involved in the field will be able to extend their professional knowledge and skill. The proposed program is oriented toward working adults interested in broadening and developing skills in business management. To earn the BBA degree, students complete 120 study credits, including 36 three credit courses delivered online, two project based courses (three credits each) and a final business plan (six credits). The program can be completed on either a full time or a part time basis and students will have the option of completing the program with Honours. The objective of the proposed four year, 120h Bachelor of Business Administration with Majors in Accounting and Marketing is to prepare students for professional careers in business or further graduate study. Those with an Accounting major will be prepared to undergo training for professional certification with the CMA, CGA and CA licensing bodies. Those with a Marketing major will be to prepared for career entry positions in a variety of marketing functions or further graduate study. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a three term cooperative education program. CBU is proposing to offer a Concentration in Ethnomusicology in which students complete a minimum of 30 credits in enthomusicology courses (nine compulsory; 21 elective). 3 Certificate in Science Education The proposed Certificate is designed to provide teachers (kindergarten grade 9) with a background in the sciences, specifically reflected in the Nova Scotia public school program. The program requires two and a half years of part time study on a year round basis for a total of 30 credits (11 courses). It is primarily a professional program, and has been approved by the Nova Scotia Department of Education for teacher certificate upgrading. Bachelor of Science, Nursing The objective of the proposed program is to prepare professional nurses who can respond to the changing health needs of society and maintain an ethical, evidence based practice in a variety of settings with a variety of clients. It is a four year, full time program with an Advanced Major opportunity. Students are required to complete both classroom and clinical courses. The proposed program has previously been offered as a joint program with St. Francis Xavier University. Dalhousie University Master of Periodontics The proposed program is a three year, full time master s program that requires 76ch, including a research practicum and hospital rotation. The purpose of the proposed program is to educate competent dental specialists able to practice the full scope of clinical Periodontics and surgical implant dentistry using an evidence based approach. Undergraduate Medical Education The program is being modified to achieve full compliance with accreditation standards. The modification is to reorganize the curriculum into units (in Yrs 1 and 2 only, Yrs 3 and 4 remain the same) and to re write the objectives so they are in outcomes based terms. Content and duration and specifics of enrolment are not affected. The Introduction to Clerkship is also being shortened from 4 weeks to 2 weeks. To be determined Nova Scotia Agricultural College Nova Scotia College of Art and Design Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Design The objective of the proposed one year, 30 credit program is to prepare students to enroll in the Master of Design program at NSCAD. It is intended to be a generalist design credential for students who require further preparation for Master s level work. The proposed program is composed of both Studio (21 credits) and Liberal Arts (9 credits) courses and provides a design language ESL component for those who need it. The majority of students entering this program will be international students. Saint Mary s University Bachelor of Arts, Minor/Concentration in Latin American Studies SMU is proposing a 24ch Concentration in Latin American Studies within its three year BA program. The proposed Concentration includes 6ch Spanish language courses, 6ch of Latin American history, and 12ch selected humanities and social science electives focusing on Latin America. There is also an opportunity for study abroad through institutional partnerships with Mexican and Brazilian universities. SMU is also proposing a Minor in Latin American Studies within the four year degree; the Minor does not require MPHEC approval. Bachelor of Arts, Major in Entrepreneurship The proposed program is a four year, 120ch bachelor s degree with a 45ch major in entrepreneurship and an option to participate in a co operative education program. The objective is to provide students with a broad base of knowledge in a wide range of humanities and social sciences disciplines, combined with a functional basis of business knowledge with an emphasis on entrepreneurship. Bachelor of Environmental Studies The proposed Bachelor of Environmental Studies is designed to prepare students for work related to environmental issues from natural resource management and protection, to sustainable economic planning and development for the protection and preservation of the environment. Students will be required to 120ch of courses including foundation courses, core Environmental Studies courses, courses within a thematic area as well as selected and free electives. As part of the required ES coursework, students complete 2 capstone courses in the fourth year of the program that provides an applied orientation to environmental policy and practice. St. Francis Xavier University University of King's College Université Sainte Anne Maîtrise en éducation L'Université Sainte Anne propose une modification du programme «Maîtrise en Éducation (enseignement du français langue seconde)» afin d y ajouter un nouveau volet «enseignement du français langue maternelle». Les deux volets du programme «Maîtrise en éducation» de 30 crédits seraient offerts à temps partiel seulement sur une période de trois ans et demi. Pour satisfaire aux exigences du baccalauréat, les étudiants devront compléter deux années (3e et 4e années) d études à l Université Sainte Anne, soit un total de 69 crédits répartis sur 4 sessions d études. Les deux années de formation offertes à l université permettront aux étudiants d acquérir une formation axée sur la pratique de la gestion et plus spécialement celle du management. UPEI is proposing to modify its existing Bachelor of Education (Teaching French Immersion), offered in partnership with the Université de Moncton, to be offered entirely at UPEI. The University is also proposing to change the name of the program to a Bachelor of Education (Enseignement en français). The proposed program requires that students complete 20 courses and a 21 week practicum over two years of study. Students have the option of focussing their studies on one of three streams: Early Years, Middle Years and Senior Years. In the Early and Middle Years streams, students will take 80% of their courses in French; whereas, students in the Senior Years stream will take 75% of their courses in French. The primary objective of the proposed program is to prepare future teachers of French Immersion, Core French and Intensive French. The program is designed as a part time Bachelor of Education (Kindergarten) degree offered on a limited term basis to a specific and pre identified set of adult learners. These learners are educators currently employed in Early Childhood Education Centres across Prince Edward Island who will be transitioning to the public school system when the province moves to a K 12 system in September Participants will take 20 Education courses. Normally, the program will be completed in four calendar years. The program is to be offered to two cohorts of English students and one cohort of French. The French version of the program is anticipated to mirror the English version of the BEd (Kindergarten). The proposed two year Master of Nursing program has two streams: The Thesis Stream and the Nurse Practitioner Stream. The Thesis Stream may be taken on either a full time or a part time basis (duration of 5 years). The Thesis Stream has a total of 36ch, including 9ch for the thesis. This stream will consist of 55ch and includes 700 hours of supervised clinical practice plus a synthesis paper. There are 4 core courses and 8 required courses, including two offered at UNB. The proposed program combines the practical and theoretical strengths of existing courses provided by Holland College and UPEI. The occupational content is introduced at Holland College during the first two years. Once accepted by UPEI, students will undertake a relatively structured program of 20 courses, 15 of which will be required, over a two year period (3rd and 4th years of the program). Certificate in Educational Leadership in Nunavut This is a 5 course, post degree Certificate program designed for Inuit and non Inuit B.Ed. graduates wishing to hold leadership positions in the Nunavut public school system. The purpose of the program is to provide educational leadership and management strategies that respect cultural traditions and engage the community in the education system. Bachelor of Science (Kinesiology) The proposed program is a four year, 120ch Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology designed to prepare students to work with individuals and communities to achieve optimal health and quality of life. Students may opt to take courses from Holland College's Sport and Leisure Management program as electives which may lead to professional certifications. (May 18, 2010)

6 PhD in Molecular and Macromolecular Sciences The proposed program is a full time, research intensive Doctor of Philosophy degree administered by the Faculty of Science under the umbrella of the Molecular and Macromolecular Sciences research constellation, along with an additional business specialization. The PhD degree, while focused on gaining expertise in a narrow research field, will be obtained in conjunction with a Graduate Certificate in the Business of Science (GCBS). This GCBS provides a value added component to the degree, giving students training in the language of business and the particulars of applying business ideals to the products of scientific research. Students must complete 9ch of MMS courses and 9ch of Business courses, a 6ch capstone course, a candidacy exam, and a PhD thesis. PhD in Environmental Sciences The proposed PhD in Environmental Sciences is a four to seven year interdisciplinary, researchoriented program with supplementary non traditional training and certification in Environmental Communication Strategies. A research dissertation and a core set of environment oriented courses will constitute the foundation of each student's program, both of which will be complemented with an array of elective courses. The program also includes a 75 hour internship.
